Stranded

  • Dominique Fitzpatrick-O~Dinn

castaway on a rocky island a
sole inhabitant
I have lost my hope and expect no rescue
only water my prison wall
I send up cigarette puff signals my
Rolex winks code at blue sky
I forage my coconut, my shrimp at
crowded fish market shops
in babblings of languages I don’t speak I
go insane by increments day to day no
human to speak to
just a murmur of cars
