Poem for a Dating Site
A young-at-heart woman was surfing the net
And discovered a man whom she hadn’t yet met
He never wore polos or dockers or khaki
Or baseball caps backwards, tasteful, not tacky
Different but safe, not the worst nor the best
Humble, hardworking, just like the midwest
Degree from the east, Reiki from the west
At heart just a bird with a kid and a nest
And even though he didn’t check every box
He didn’t seem wealthy, not much of a fox
This young-at-heart girl, intrigued by this verse, thought
I could maybe do better; I could surely do worse
Obviously he quite likes Dr. Seuss
He seems quite acute, though a little obtuse
He has enough cats, of that I am sure.
The state of his biceps? Well that can be cured...
And all that he asked for (which she didn’t believe)
Was to buy her a coffee, smile, listen, and leave
A young-at-heart man who claims he can dance...
Would beautiful YOURNAMEHERE give him a chance?
